It's rare when community employment managers and Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation leadership staff have the chance to meet face-to-face or to plan for and implement systems change. Employment Leadership Training, sponsored by Indiana VR, creates that opportunity for colleagues to confer and look at opportunities for growth and improvement.

The Journey to Cultural Responsivity
Now Available Online!
For community employment specialists, program managers, and Indiana VR counselors, coordinators, and leadership staff.
Family values, access to resources and health care, poverty, and language can all be factors in establishing trust and working successfully with job seekers and supported employees. Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation VR personnel and the staff of community employment service providers in Indiana must be aware of and understand cultural differences in order to ensure an effective rehabilitation process for each consumer.
In May 2020, the Center on Community Living and Careers presented “Starting the Journey Toward Cultural Responsivity,” a free, three-part webinar series led by Renae Azziz, director of educational partnerships and founder of Virtuoso Educational Consulting. Through the webinars, Dr. Azziz leads participants as they explore the definition of culture, engage in activities focused on building awareness of their own cultures and the cultures of others, and review resources supporting the development of the skills they need to effectively manage the dynamics of cultural difference.
Webinar topics:
- Awareness of Cultural Responsivity
- The Relevancy of Culture in the Employment Process
- Practical Application: Strategies and Tools for You
