The Bureau of Disabilities Services and the Office of Medicaid Policy & Planning will continue participating in the National Core Indicators project. NCI is utilized across 48 states to assess the quality and outcomes of individuals receiving developmental disabilities, aging, or physical disabilities services through state systems. The NCI project is a collaboration between the National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services, Advancing States, and the Human Services Research Institute. NCI offers valid, reliable, person-centered measures that states use to demonstrate how publicly funded supports are impacting people’s lives and to determine where they can improve the quality of those supports. More information regarding the NCI project is available on the NCI website.
The Family and Social Services Administration partners with the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community at Indiana University, Indiana’s University Center for Excellence in Disabilities, to administer NCI surveys and provide meaningful data analysis. The IIDC survey team contacts individuals and/or guardians (as applicable), family members, case managers/service coordinators, and provider agencies to coordinate survey processes and gather specific background information on individuals who choose to participate. Pictures and bios of the IIDC NCI survey team can be accessed here NCI Team.
The NCI Aging and Disabled (AD) Adult Consumer Survey is an interview conducted with individuals on the Health and Wellness (H&W) and Pathways (PW) waivers. The IIDC survey team will be contacting individuals and guardians as applicable to participate in this voluntary survey primarily via telephone. IIDC will also connect with residential providers
to coordinate in-person interviews with selected individuals at their facilities. For more information on the survey/interview process please click here.
The NCI Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Child Family Survey (CFS) is for families who have a child (under age 18) with ID/DD living in the family home that receives case management and at least one additional waiver service. Family surveys are sent to an eligible of sample of families – generally based on the total number of eligible families and previous year response rates (approximately 1500).
BDS, OMPP and IIDC request the support and cooperation of individuals and their families, case managers/service coordinators, and provider agencies to encourage and facilitate participation in these surveys. We thank you and look forward to working together to gather this valuable information across the state in order to support individuals to live their best lives.
Additional questions regarding the NCI surveys may be sent to Janet Carpenter, NCI Project Administrative Assistant, (812) 855-6892, jlshultz@iu.edu.
