First Steps Technical Assistance

The Early Childhood Center (ECC) provides technical assistance (TA) for First Steps, Indiana’s early intervention system. We are pleased to support First Steps by offering information and support that is relevant, strength-based, and stakeholder-informed.

We offer resources that are aligned with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) law and OSEP (Office of Special Education Programs) priorities.

High quality technical assistance involves partnering with SPOEs and agencies to answer questions, locate existing resources (or build new ones) and jointly problem-solve systemic challenges.

We Locate

You may need assistance to locate existing guidance, policy, research, or professional development. We are here to assist you to identify and highlight what currently exists within the First Steps Learning Management System as well as in the broader early intervention research and policy arena.

We Listen

Perhaps you have a specific challenge that you want to share in a safe, supportive environment. We will listen and reflect with you about what supports and resources may be helpful.

We Lean In

When appropriate, we will assist you to problem-solve and develop a plan to address the challenge(s) your SPOE or agency is facing. This plan may include supports including root cause analysis, targeted professional development and coaching, sustainability planning.
