Michael McCarty is executive director of Glenview Park District in Glenview, Illinois, covering 861 acres and including 12 major facilities, 27 parks, 13 fieldhouses and 12.6 miles of walking trails. He has more than 23 years of progressive experience in parks and recreation, having served as executive director of parks and recreation for the Town of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and assistant director of recreation for the town of South Windsor, Connecticut. Michael is a past president and Gold Medal and Mentor Committee member of the American Academy of Park and Recreation Administration, a member of the National Recreation and Park Society. He holds a bachelor's degree in parks, recreation and leisure facilities management from Springfield College.
