As we observe Memorial Day this month, the Eppley Center team is reflecting on the successful completion of a project with the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC). As an agency of the US federal government, ABMC is charged with oversight and management of 26 cemeteries and 31 monuments abroad, all of which honor the service, achievements and sacrifice of U.S. armed forces.
This past February, the Eppley Center team officially wrapped up the project’s comprehensive, five-year Visitor Use and Satisfaction Study alongside its ABMC partners. It has been an honor for our team to participate in this high-impact work that deployed systematic data collection abroad to understand the type, motivations, and needs of visitors. The project spanned 13 sites across seven countries, collecting and analyzing data in six different languages, offering a multi-faceted examination into the visitor experience.

Our goal throughout our work with our partners has been to support their mission by providing an in-depth understanding into the visitor experience at ABMC sites and also provide a data-driven foundation for the agency’s ongoing planning and management with respect to Visitor Services. The team at the Eppley Center is proud of their role in conducting this research project and the project’s contributions to preserving the legacy of those who served.
