In "Improving the Oral Health of Hoosiers with Disabilities: Barriers and Needs," staff from the Center for Health Equity (CHE) at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community gives an overview of the oral health needs of Hoosiers with disabilities including the findings from previous multi-year research activities. CHE staff provides information on how the Americans with Disabilities Act applies to dental care settings.
In "Navigating Oral Health and Dental Care Systems: Caregiver Perspectives for Access," staff from the Arc of Indiana and Indiana Family to Family present on how families can navigate the dental care system, including dental insurance and coverage, common barriers caregivers encounter, and how to work with providers. During the presentation, they provide suggestions based on the experiences of family caregivers on how to make dental care less stressful for the caregiver and those they support.
In "Oral Health for Hoosiers with Disabilities: A Caregivers Guide," Louise McCarthy, a registered Dental Hygienist with more than 40 years of experience as a dental hygienist and dental public health instructor, provides family and paid caregivers with strategies and information on how to improve oral health and home dental care of Hoosiers with disabilities.
