Dr. Derek Nord is an associate professor in Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education program. He's also the director of the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community (IIDC), Indiana's University Center for Excellence on Disabilities, and a university-wide center at IU addressing research and service on a wide range of topics affecting people with disabilities. He has an extensive research and teaching background in community living, social inclusion, poverty and disability, school-to-adult transition, and employment of people with disabilities. He received his bachelor's in sociology and anthropology from St. Olaf College, his master's of social work from Augsburg College, and his doctor in education policy and administration from the University of Minnesota.
