Matt Norris joins the Eppley Center

Matt Norris joined the Eppley Center in July. He will be working part-time on various accessibility projects including the Indiana State Park Accessibility Assessment, United States Forest Services National Accessibility Project, and the expansion of online courses on accessibility in Eppley’s IU Expand catalog. Matt has been with the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community for 22 years. During most of his career at the Institute, he provided training and technical assistance on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other disability laws to a variety of audiences including community organizations, local and state government agencies, and disability advocates. In 2013, he completed the ADA Coordinators’ Training Certification Program offered through the Great Plains ADA Center and the University of Missouri. He was one of the first from Indiana to complete the certification.

His other roles at the Indiana Institute include coordinating disability and health projects to address barriers for people with disabilities and providing support the Institute’s Advisory Council. He has assisted with the development and delivery of training materials for people with disabilities, disability advocates, family caregivers, and working professionals on various topics including civil and disability rights, health care access, and civic participation.

Matt earned his undergraduate degree in psychology from Indiana University and his Master of Social Work from Indiana University School of Social Work.  

He is a member of the state advocacy organization, ADA-Indiana, which promotes the implementation of the ADA in the state. He also participates in the City of Bloomington’s Council for Community Accessibility.
