ADOS-2

Workshop Overview

The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) is a well-validated, widely used direct observation tool for diagnosing autism spectrum disorders (ASD). This workshop will outline the administration of the four main modules (toddler module excluded) and provide video demonstrations to discuss scoring criteria in detail. Attendees should have clinical experience with ASD and other neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as prior assessment training and experience. To ensure reliable clinical or research use, attendees are encouraged to practice extensively with the ADOS-2 following the workshop.

Please Note

Participants must bring their own ADOS-2 protocols (Modules 1-4) to the training to score the ADOS-2 during video demonstrations and engage in scoring discussions. Protocols can be purchased through Western Psychological Services. Participants may also find it helpful, though not essential, to bring an ADOS-2 manual for reference.

Only 50 slots are available, and participation is based on a first-come, first-served basis.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Summarize how the ADOS-2 elicits behaviors characteristic of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • Select the appropriate ADOS-2 module based on age and language level.
  • Describe the standardized administration of the ADOS-2.
  • Score the ADOS-2 based on video demonstration.
