Marcie Beers is a project management coordinator with the Center Early Childhood Center (ECC) at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community, Indiana University, Bloomington.
Before joining ECC, Beers spent the eight years working at the Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) of Ohio. While at the PTI, Beers served as the executive director, managed projects with the federal Office of Special Education Programs, Ohio Department of Education/Office of Early Learning and School Readiness. She has trained parents and professionals on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act informing them of parental rights. Beers has advocated for children receiving special education services, ensuring that their individual needs were being met in the appropriate educational setting. She is dedicated to the work involved in improving the quality of an early childhood system, where young children can prosper and families are engaged in their child’s educational experience.
Personal Statement
Knowing that each child is receiving what they need throughout their day to feel secure, grow, and learn is very important. Taking the time to understand what a student needs and how to meet those needs can make all the difference.
